Blu Nightclub has all the relevant aspects of the nightclub business already in place - bar manager, staff, administration, promotion team, printers, graphic design company, alcohol distributors, cleaners, resident DJs, sound technician, lawyer, accountant, etc.

The club opened in the late 1970s, a pioneer in the disco world and the first nightclub in Ibiza Town under the name Xaloc. Later it became the famous strip club "Blue Rose" but after ten years it closed in 2006.

Rebranded as Blu after a major refurbishment, the club has hosted some very successful events, not only during the summer but ongoing throughout the winter. Establishing a clientele through the winter months gives even better substance to business in the summer.

Blu occupies the ground floor of two adjacent buildings. Only one building is owned - roughly 2/3 of the club is owned outright, the other 1/3 is secured via a rental agreement which was recently renegotiated for a further 20 years.

The 450m2 ground floor consists of three bars, stage, dance floor on various levels, seating areas and alcoves, male and female toilets, store rooms, washing areas, and is open plan in design with steps breaking up the spaces. Capacity is 450.

The club was renovated in 2007, all the bars have new surfaces, plumbing, electrics, together with new electronic tills, fridges, etc. A new sound system and facility for live performances, general lighting and audiovisual was added. Seatings and furnishings are also new.

The existing permit is for a "SALA DE FIESTAS", this is the best nightclub permit to have and is the same permit used by Pacha, Amnesia, Space, etc. The permit allows Blu to play live music, stage shows, stay open until 6am, and allows for dancing in the venue. It is very unlikely that the authorities will grant any new "Sala de Fiesta" licences in the future.

STATUS REPORT BLU

After three years of diligent operation we are seeing a surge of interest in Blu, together with a backlash against the mass events of bigger clubs as people want to go back to more personal and fun clubbing. In the last few months Blu has agreed a very strong summer schedule, and if all goes as planned we are looking at a very good year.

We have nights booked for all Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from June to October.

Confirmed promoters that will be hosting events at Blu this season are:

BACK TO BASICS, NANO, MONZA, AIRPORT, SUPERFREQ, SPUNK, PARK&RIDE, REJEKTS, PRAM, TICTACTOE CLUB.

All of which are bringing quality line-ups to play in Blu, and the club is gaining momentum in the Ibiza scene.
